Eiffel Tower where are you?

So if you’ve ever seen the movie French Kiss, do you remember when Meg Ryan would always turn her back just at the time when the lights of the Eiffel Tower would go on and she would always miss it or something would be covering it at the wrong moment so she kept overlooking it?  Well, that has been me since we’ve been here. I saw the tippy top of it briefly but we have yet to actually go visit it.  Before I came I just assumed that everywhere you went in Paris, the Eiffel Tower would follow you.  It’s not like that. I guess it doesn't help being located on the total opposite end of it.  I can’t believe how much there is to see here in one city. I swear every corner we turn is another 5 time squares and I still haven’t seen the Moulin Rouge!  Ahhhh!
We went to Notre Dame, Arc De Triomphe and walked around The Louvre.  This history is way more interesting now that it’s right in front of me. We went to where King Louis and Marie Antoinette got their heads chopped off.  Woe, crazy.  Rach-you’d love this stuff since you’ve read all those books.  The Arc De Triomphe, they could’ve just built the huge arch and it would have been cool, but they didn’t stop there.  Everything is sooo detailed and every inch of it has some sort of carving of a person or a flower or…a man’s member! Geez they loved their members.
Jared is nuts (speaking of) about architecture and attention to detail in most things.  So when he saw The Louvre, he almost passed out.  It’s unbelievable, HUGE and beautiful (I wonder how many adjectives I can use in one posting).  It’s one palace and it’s over 652,000 sqft!  It's weird that most people lived in these teeny tiny living spaces and the king lived there!  Jared thought the modern glass pyramid smack in the middle was a disgrace.  Since everything else in Paris is built from individually carved stones, he thought it looked like they bought a glass Tuff-Shed and put it there.  They just don’t build stuff like they used to. I suppose its old world meets new world. I dunno, I kinda agree with the kid.
Since Jared couldn't sleep last night we have a change of plans.  I think we’re going to see Versailles today. I’ll check back with you guys later and brief you on it.  Love you!

  1. From Kirsten Dunst to Leonardo Decaprio. Is it wrong that everything I know about history is from the movies? The Louvre sounds awesome! ...and even more awesome in April when the smell of b.o. isn't overpowering! Right, Jess? I can't wait to hear more. I'm addicted to this blog. I check it every morning and every night when I get home! More pictures! More stories! Loved it!
